Do you want to have the ultimate “once in a lifetime” safari experience? If you said YES to any of these questions -Serengeti Under Canvas is for you! A mobile camp is the most unique and rewarding way to experience that intangible “something” that makes the Serengeti so special. Primitive, wild and beautiful, THIS is where you will really GET the Serengeti. The buildings, traffic and crowds of civilization are but distant memories of the past. Moving five times a year this mobile camp attempts to anticipate the movements of the Great Migration, bringing guests as close as possible to the wildebeest action. From July to October the camp is located in the Northern Serengeti near the Mara River and from January to March the camp is located in the Southern Serengeti near Lake Ndutu. During the transition seasons in April/May and again in November/December, the camp is moved to the Central Serengeti for the Northward Migration and Southward Migration, respectively.
With just 9 tents including 1 family tent nestled at a picturesque campsite, enjoy the luxury of complete contentment and nights spent in the African bush. The ultimate in luxury camping, enjoy a private butler service, chandeliers, silverware, crystal, ensuite flush toilet, outdoor heated his-and-her bucket showers filled with hot water on demand and comfortable double or twin beds with fluffy duvets. Custom made rugs and polished brass samovars add a touch of elegance and romance. The guest areas include a dedicated sitting and dining tent, which provides deep sofas from which to contemplate the vastness and peace of the surrounding landscape. Please note that the ‘glamping’ experience offered here is best suited to the adventurous wanting an incredibly unique experience incorporated as part of an overall safari itinerary.
Though the mobile camp does not have WIFI, 24-hour electricity, running water or other creature comforts, it does offer a true wilderness experience and the attentive staff and private butlers offer the same level of service you would expect at any high-class luxury resort! The consistent draw, aside from the mobile camp’s unique atmosphere, is its superb and beautiful location. Don’t be surprised if at times the wildlife simply comes to you! You may witness entire families of elephants gliding along the nearby shoreline, splashing in the waters, or indulging in a refreshing mud bath. Keep an eye out for the iridescently hued lovebirds that often flit in the sunlight of the open-air dining room each afternoon. And listen for the deep throb of lions roaring under a profusion of stars as you share safari stories around a roaring bonfire.
