Nestled in an open acacia grove far off the beaten path, secluded and stylishly decorated safari tents line a grassy pathway leading from a main dining tent and lounge at Mara River Camp, which was completely rebuilt in 2023 with substantial improvements. This luxurious tented venue offers the ideal location to witness the Serengeti’s premier event during the heart of the dry season… the Great Migration. The setting is located near the famous Mara River, a great crocodile-laden barrier in the migratory animals’ path, and you couldn’t ask for a better location to base your game drives. Every year, on their northward and southward journey to find food and water, the Great Migration pours right through the nearby woodlands with all the thundering drama you might expect from over 2 million large animals!
This luxurious venue in the remote Northern Serengeti is all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Mara River Camp lies about 200 meters from The Ingira River (a tributary of the greater Mara River) and only about 1 mile from the Mara River itself. Additionally, one of the most famous wildebeest crossing spots utilized by the great migratory herds each year lies just a 10-minute drive away!
Accommodations consist of just eighteen (18) individual tented suites and two additional 2-bedroom family suites. The tented suites are under thatched roofs with beautiful hardwood floors and each has a veranda with safari deck chairs from which where you can see resident animals including giraffe and sometimes even the migratory animals including wildebeest and zebra.
Beds are draped in luxurious mosquito nets and especially plush bedding to ensure sound safari dreaming. The back of the suite includes the en-suite bathroom which consists of dual washbasins, a separate flush toilet and both a regular indoor shower and an outdoor shower under the stars. There is a power strip in each tent so that you can charge your camera batteries, and 24-hour electricity is available. Wi-Fi is available only in the common areas. Turndown service is conducted in the evenings and a coffee/tea and cookie tray is delivered to your chalet each morning at your prearranged wake-up call time.
