Four Seasons Lodge
Experience the pinnacle of 5-star luxury at the Four Seasons. A decadent oasis with an infinity pool overlooking an elephant waterhole, it offers air-conditioned suites and world-class Thai wellness in the heart of the wild Serengeti.
Details
Pure Bliss! Decadent! The Shining Star! Welcome to a place where every fanciful whim is transformed into reality. The Four Seasons Safari Lodge is a “fantasy turned reality”—a five-star dream hideaway designed to a standard that drops the jaws of even the most discerning world travelers. Seamlessly integrated into the dramatic Pombofu Kopjes, the stone-built lodge is a masterpiece of indigenous architecture.
The design is a love letter to the Serengeti: the cooling thatched roofs were crafted from over a million traditional chelewa brooms, and the pale stone walls were sourced from nearby Mugumu. Light and space reign supreme here. Perched on a hill, the lodge features floor-to-ceiling glass that constantly draws your eye to the savanna. Here, you can watch huge herds of elephants quench their thirst at the spring-fed waterhole while you lounge by the azure infinity pool.
The Strategic Crossroads
The Four Seasons is tactically situated roughly halfway between the Central and Northern regions of the park. After turning west off the main road, a three-mile drive through secluded woodlands reveals the lodge, discreetly built to incorporate the ancient granite boulders of the landscape.
The Tactical Advantage:
- Central & North Access: Situated 20 miles from the Seronera Airstrip and 27 miles from Lobo, it offers a perfect base for exploring the big cat circuits of the Seronera Valley and the rugged, “blackened hills” of the Lobo Valley.
- Banagi Hill: Guests enjoy ethereal views of this iconic landmark and the splendid plains that stretch toward the northern extension.
The Serengeti’s Best Circuits
The Lodge’s central location provides effortless access to the park’s most legendary wildlife hotspots:
- Seronera Valley: Known as the “Big Cat Capital” of Africa, this valley is home to a staggering density of leopard, lion, and cheetah, with reliable year-round game viewing along the Seronera River.
- Lobo Valley: A stunning landscape of ancient hills and granite outcrops. It is famous for its massive resident lion prides and serves as a vital corridor for the Great Migration between August and November.
- Retina Hippo Pool: A must-visit spectacle where the Seronera and Orangi rivers meet, housing hundreds of hippos in a deep, chaotic pool that offers some of the best photography in the park.
- Moru Kopjes: These iconic granite islands rising from the plains are not only visually breathtaking but also serve as the primary sanctuary for the Serengeti’s remaining black rhino population.
Makoma Hill: Located just south of the lodge, these open plains are a favorite haunt for cheetahs and offer vast, unobstructed views of grazing buffalo, giraffe, and zebra.
Suites and Private Villas
The 72 accommodations are arranged in two sweeping, arc-shaped wings. Every room is a sanctuary of “Savannah-colored” elegance and African art.
