On every safari, you’ll travel with the same driver-guide from start to finish. The success of your trip comes down to their knowledge and care. Our Tanzanian guides are highly trained, fluent in English, and passionate about sharing their home. We invest in their growth and well-being because they are the heart of ADS—and the reason so many guests call their safari life-changing.

Your guide-driver will help plan your days with suggestions, but the decisions are yours. Most importantly, he finds the animals - that's why you're here! He must understand animals' habitats and behaviors. Your guide should have experience to explore off the beaten path. He needs to communicate well about the ecosystem to guests. A professional with a pleasant personality is essential for the trip. Passion for the job enhances enjoyment. This is the guide profile at ADS.

Why is a Private Guide Better?

A frequent question we receive is ‘why is it better to have a private guide instead of utilizing different guides employed at various properties?’ Some companies will shuffle you between different camps without a dedicated driver guide, and that means you will have a new guide at each location and you will need to go out on shared game drives with other guests.

That means you lose the ability to control your own schedule and the amount of time focused on your interests. By the time you’re done shuffling between the various driver guides, you may have heard the same lesson on dung beetles 20 times, which is always repeated 1) because the driver guide is new to you and he doesn’t know what you’ve heard, and 2) for the benefit of other new guests in the vehicle with you. And you never do make it far from the driveway to find the leopard or cheetah cubs or other interesting animals that may be a little bit more difficult to find.

Vehicle Specifications

Africa Dream Safaris Provides 4WD Land Cruisers for Wildlife Viewing.

Each vehicle has eight seats, six in the back under a sunshade. There is no air conditioning due to the open design. These rugged vehicles handle tough terrain, but rides can be bumpy and noisy.

Flat tires are common on rough tracks. Tire changes are quick with your guide. Vehicle breakdowns are rare due to maintenance. If a breakdown occurs, a replacement arrives in 4 to 6 hours. You’ll never be stranded on safari. Hearing your guide may be tough from the back row, especially with 6 people. Additional vehicles can be booked for fewer guests.
